Malbec ripens a good two weeks ahead of Cabernet Sauvignon; in a hot climate it will lose too much acidity and result in a wine with high pH, good reasons to plant Malbec in a cooler site. Malbec has been planted in the Carlo & Julian Estate Vineyard since 2003 where it is presently used as a blending partner in the Estate "Six Grapes" blend. It's lovely floral perfume and intense color make it a welcome addition in a blend.
